On this page, you will find all the information you need about the presentation guidelines for both the Main Conference and the Pre-Conference.
Please review the relevant guidelines carefully to ensure that your presentation meets the requirements and everything runs smoothly.
Main Conference
Poster presentations (Late-Breaking Work)

Oral presentations (Research papers, Industry Experiences, Arts-Based Approaches, Critiques)
Presentation format and file requirements
- File type: PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx) or PDF.
- Notes: PowerPoint speaker notes can typically be shown on the extended display, but please prepare your own notes as a backup by bringing printed notes or your own laptop or tablet for that purpose.
- Aspect ratio: 16:9 (widescreen).
- Accessibility: More information will be provided soon.
- Fonts: Use standard fonts, with a minimum font size of 24 pt. If you use non-standard fonts, please check that they display correctly on the day of your presentation.
- Videos: If you use videos in your presentation, please make sure beforehand that they work in the lecture room. We recommend that videos should be embedded in the presentation. Additionally, upload video files separately in MP4 format as a backup.
File naming standard
- Format: [date of the presentation]_[last name]_[first name]_[pcs paper ID] — for example, 5October_Doe_Jane_crit0000.pptx
- If you later upload a modified version, mark it clearly, e.g. NEW_5October_Doe_Jane_crit0000.pptx
Submitting your presentation in advance
- Deadline: Please upload your presentation by noon on the day before your session at the latest.
- Upload link: The link will be sent to you in an information email approximately one week before the event.
- Important: All presentations must be run from the auditorium computer; personal laptops are not allowed. Exceptions will be made only if you have a pressing reason, for example running a specific program as a demo. In that case, please contact the IT chairs in advance. Note that the only connection available is USB-C, not HDMI.
On the day of your presentation
- Arrival time: Please arrive at the auditorium 20 minutes before the start of your session.
- Upon arrival: Meet your session chair, check that your presentation works, and test the technical setup (videos and sound).
- Technical support: Student volunteers are available in every session.
Duration of presentations
- Research papers: 12 + 3 min (presentation + Q&A)
- Industry Experience: 10 + 5 min
- Arts-based Approaches: 10 min presentation + joint 20 min discussion
- Critiques: 10 + 5 min (critical writings), critical visualizations follow instructions provided by the track chairs

Doctoral Consortium, Workshop and Tutorials
These guidelines apply to all workshops, tutorials, and the doctoral consortium at NordiCHI26, both during the pre-conference and the main conference days.
Before your session (all organizers)
- Workshop, tutorial, and doctoral consortium organizers during pre-conference: Please arrive at the registration desk one hour before the start of the session to be guided to your room and to check the technical set-up. Student volunteers are available, but they are shared between several rooms, so please be on time.
- Tutorial organizer during the main conference days: please arrive at the registration desk 30 minutes before the start of the session to be guided to your room and to prepare the technical set-up. It is advisable that you check the technical set-up already during the Mon-Tue, please contact the registration desk to agree a timing for this.
- Room allocations and session times are published in the conference programme at https://sites.uwasa.fi/nordichi2026/program/pre-conference/ . Please check your room shortly before the conference, as allocations may change.
- Wi-Fi is available throughout the venue via eduroam and via a guest network; details are provided at the registration desk.
Workshop organizers
- You can decide whether participants may use their own computers for any presentations, or whether they are expected to send the presentations to you beforehand. The conference organizers will not collect presentations from workshop participants.
- You can use your own computer to present your work. The connections in the room are HDMI; please make sure you have the correct adapter if needed.
- Please contact your accepted participants well before the conference with the session schedule, any preparation or reading required, and instructions on presentations.
- If you plan to share materials, notes, or outputs after the session, please tell participants in advance how these will be shared and stored.
Workshop participants
- Please follow the instructions provided by the workshop organizers.
- Please arrive a few minutes before the session starts and check with your organizers in advance whether you should bring your own computer or send your presentation to them beforehand.
Tutorial organizers
- You should use your own computer to present your work. During the pre-conference, the connections in the room are HDMI. During the main conference, the connection is USB-C. Please bring an adapter if your computer needs one.
Tutorial participants
- Please follow the instructions provided by the tutorial organizers.
Doctoral consortium participants
- Please follow the instructions provided by the doctoral consortium chairs.
