Join the Union

The Union of Research Professionals (Tieteentekijät) is an organisation and trade union for researchers, teachers and other academic experts at universities and in different research institutions either in public or private sector.

With the same application you apply to become a member of VYTY (Vaasan yliopiston Tieteentekijät), one of our local associations. Furthermore, Members of the Union of Research Professionals are provided with unemployment insurance through The Unemployment Fund Ote. When joining the union, you can also join the unemployment fund as long as you meet the fund’s member requirement of being employed at the time of starting your membership.

Membership officially begins, at the earliest, on the date when the written application for membership is submitted. You can also choose a date when you wish your membership to begin. Please note, however, that you cannot join retroactively.
