How to create student projects in VME

Interested in using the VME Environment and/or its devices for your thesis or course project? Want some ideas for potential a Bachelor's/Master's-level thesis? Below you will find a step-by-step guide on how to conduct research in VME for your thesis and research needs!

1. Plan a visit

Book a visit to the lab in Vello and meet with a laboratory representative to plan out your research setting.

Questions to prepare:

  • Do you already have a research idea?
  • Do you require specific software or licenses?
  • Are you borrowing devices from the environment?
  • What data are you collecting? (Eyetracking, biometric data, workshops?)
  • Are you going to conduct research in the laboratory?

2. Conduct research

You will receive instructions, software licenses and/or guidance on how to execute your research plan. The next step is to conduct the research!

Book your lab appointments in Vello. For more frequent visits, you can inquire about having the laboratory key temporarily. The visits will have a laboratory representative present to guide and instruct in using the laboratory equipment during your sessions.

You can also ask for participant recruitment assistance.

Questions to consider:

  • Data gathering and handling practices. VME has its own data handling policy. How and what data will you gather and where do you securely store it?
  • Do you need technical assistance with softwares or lab equipment?
