The University of Vaasa is the largest and the most prolific academic institution in banking research in Finland. Research on banking and financial institutions is being conducted in four different Research Groups of the University of Vaasa by several individual professors, post-doctoral scholars, and doctoral students in collaboration with partners from various international universities, central banks, and financial institutions.


The School of Accounting and Finance of the University of Vaasa organizes the Vaasa Banking Research Workshop annually in collaboration with Hanken School of Economics. The aim of the Workshop is to bring together scholars to present and discuss current research on topics related to banking, financial intermediation, and financial stability. The 6th Vaasa Banking Research Workshop will be held on September 18, 2025.
