The University of Vaasa is the largest and the most prolific academic institution in banking research in Finland. Research on banking and financial institutions is being conducted in four different Research Groups of the University of Vaasa by several individual professors, post-doctoral scholars, and doctoral students in collaboration with partners from various international universities, central banks, and financial institutions.

The School of Accounting and Finance of the University of Vaasa organizes a Banking Research Workshop on an annual basis. The aim of the Workshop is to bring together scholars to present and discuss topical research addressing different aspects of banking, financial intermediation, and financial stability. The 5th Vaasa Banking Research Workshop was held on September 17, 2024.
