Company case 3: The Switch (A Bemac Group Company)

The Switch is a global provider of custom electric machines and power electronics products with a mission to electrify the world with game-changing green technologies. The Switch applied technology from the wind power sector to the maritime industry, taking it by a storm by launching the shaft generator. The Shaft generators are manufactured in the Lappeenranta (Finland) and Vaasa (Finland) factories as well as in a partner manufacturing factory in Nanjing (China). The power electronics manufacturing for the Marine sector has been concentrated to the Stord (Norway) factory, but since the launch of a new generation of the Power Electronics product, the demand has grown and in 2025 also the Vaasa factory has started Power Electronics manufacturing. 

In 2025, The Switch is seen across the Nordic in 3 locations: Vaasa (Finland), Lappeenranta (Finland), and Stord (Norway). To support its development, strengthen its position and invest heavily in testing capacity, which allows solutions to be tested and verified, The Swich employs around 250 people across their locations. 

By Year 2025 the company has delivered over 24 GW of megawatt-class environmental energy technology worldwide – to marine, renewables and industrial applications. The products developed by The Switch accelerate the switch toward net zero emissions in marine, renewables and industry applications. Initiator of the largest shift in the marine industry, and carrying 15 years of permanent performance.
