About Ausrine

Aušrinė Šilenskytė (Ausrine Silenskyte) is an Assistant Professor of International Strategic Management (tenure track). She also serves as a Program Manager (Bachelor’s in International Business) and an Ambassador for Internationalization at the School of Management, University of Vaasa, Finland.

Šilenskytė holds a PhD in the area of international management, is an alumnus of the prestigious Nord-IB program, and her research centers around strategy implementation, advanced technologies (e.g., blockchain, AI, SaaS) in international strategic management, and social sustainability (read more here). She is also interested in innovations in business education, particularly related to diversity and other issues falling under social sustainability.

Aušrinė served as a Chair and a Vice Chair at the Academy of International Business Teaching and Education Shared Interest Group, and has been elected as an Honorary Board member in this organization. She is also a Founding Governing Board member at the AIB-CIBER Doctoral Academy and continues active service for the Doctoral Academy.

Aušrinė teaches various topics related to international (strategic) management to undergraduates, master’s degree learners, professionals in continuous education; she also is actively leading corporate trainings and teaches a doctoral course on teaching innovations. As a mentor and in various train-the-trainer seminars, Aušrinė has supported faculty members in adopting digital innovations and ensuring inclusivity in their teaching practices. Aušrinė has received several international awards for her research and as an educator.

Before joining academia, Aušrinė worked in managerial positions in Lithuania and Egypt. Throughout her academic career, she has consulted international Finnish firms and engaged in project work aimed at achieving socio-economic sustainability through industry-academia collaborations.

  • 2023: Teaching Act of the Year Award, University of Vaasa, Finland. (the first foreigner to receive it)
  • 2022: International Management Division Best Reviewer Award, Academy of Management
  • 2022: Strategic Business Development program (EFMD accredited) Teacher of the Year (2021-2022). University of Vaasa, Finland.

  • 2018, December: Method paper “Systematic technique for applying critical realism to multilevel case studies in International Business” nominated for the award ‘The best paper written by authors under the age of 40’.  EIBA conference held in Poznan, Poland.
  • 2013: Best dissertation proposal award at 12th Vaasa conference on International Business and the Doctoral Tutorial, organized at the University of Vaasa, Finland.
  • 2012: Best student paper award received for the paper ”Improving Employee Collaboration in MNC Subsidiaries: The Antecedents of Climate for Internal Service” in 10th Workshop on International Strategy and Cross Cultural Management, organized by EIASM, Reykjavik, Iceland.
