Content and learning outcomes:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In UniTandem, students both teach another student the language they know and learn the language they know from the other. In other words, tandem pairs take turns as both teachers and learners and develop their language skills together.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The course uses materials (”triggers”) that tandem pairs choose based on their own language level and interests. These materials provide practical starting points for discussions, activities and deeper exploration of language and culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tandem pairs meet each other 10 times at self-agreed times. When all the meetings have been completed, the students return a compilation portfolio that includes a summary of their own learning process, the outputs made on the basis of the selected triggers materials, and reflections on how these materials supported the learning of the target language and culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students can receive 1 to 5 credits depending on their commitment and workload. One credit requires three (3) ”triggers” to be processed in meetings and a portfolio, so 6 triggers are required to receive two credits, and so on.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All learning materials are available on the course’s digital Moodle learning platform.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teaching and assessment methods:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Studying on the course is student-oriented: a student with more language skills guides their tandem partner by teaching and showing how to use the target language naturally and effectively. The course adapts to each student’s pace, style and goals. By using the selected triggers materials, tandem pairs can develop exactly the skills they want to improve.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Assessment scale and assessment criteria:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Grading scale: pass \u2013 fail\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To pass the course, you must meet the following criteria:<\/span>
\n– Return of an approved preliminary meeting plan.<\/span>
\n– Participation and active participation in all 10 tandem meetings.<\/span>
\n– Writing and publishing 2 reflective blog posts in the blog area of the course at different stages of the course (one blog post after the 3rd tandem meeting; another blog post after the 6th tandem meeting).<\/span>
\n– Inclusion of selected ”triggers” outputs in the portfolio according to the number of credits, 3 triggers per credit.<\/span>
\n– An aggregating portfolio.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Workload:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Depends on the number of credits chosen; 1 credit = 27 hours, 2 credits = 54 hours, and so on.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workload includes tandem meetings, blog posts, and the time it takes to write a portfolio.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sis\u00e4lt\u00f6 ja osaamistavoitteet:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

UniTandemissa opiskelija sek\u00e4 opettaa toiselle opiskelijalle osaamaansa kielt\u00e4 ett\u00e4 oppii toiselta t\u00e4m\u00e4n osaamaa kielt\u00e4. Tandem-parit toimivat siis vuorotellen sek\u00e4 opettajana ett\u00e4 oppijana ja kehitt\u00e4v\u00e4t kielitaitojaan yhdess\u00e4.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kurssilla k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n materiaaleja (”triggereit\u00e4”), joita tandem-parit valitsevat oman kielitasonsa ja kiinnostuksen kohteidensa perusteella. N\u00e4m\u00e4 materiaalit tarjoavat k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6llisi\u00e4 l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtia keskusteluille, toiminnalle sek\u00e4 kielen ja kulttuurin syvemm\u00e4lle tutkimiselle.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tandem-parit tapaavat toisensa 10 kertaa itse sovittuina ajankohtina. Kun kaikki tapaamiset on tehty, opiskelijat palauttavat kokoavan portfolion, joka sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 yhteenvedon omasta oppimisprosessista, valittujen triggers-materiaalien pohjalta tehdyt tuotokset ja pohdinnat siit\u00e4, miten n\u00e4m\u00e4 materiaalit tukivat kohdekielen ja -kulttuurin oppimista.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Opiskelijat voivat saada 1\u20135 opintopistett\u00e4 riippuen sitoutumisestaan ja ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4st\u00e4.\u202fYksi opintopiste vaatii kolmen (3) ”triggers”-materiaalin k\u00e4sittely\u00e4 tapaamisissa ja portfoliossa, joten kahden opintopisteen saamiseen vaaditaan 6 triggersi\u00e4 ja niin edelleen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kurssi mukautuu kunkin opiskelijan tahtiin, tyyliin ja tavoitteisiin. Valittuja triggers-materiaaleja hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en tandem-parit voivat kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 juuri niit\u00e4 taitoja, joita he haluavat parantaa.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
