Course description
Course contents
In the French pronunciation course, you will learn how to produce the sounds of the French language and recognize the most central correspondences between spelling and pronunciation. You will learn the correct intonation of affirmative and interrogative sentences, and the correct accentuation and rhythm, as well as the most central rules relative to liaison.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, you will be able to:
- produce the French sounds
- recognize the correspondences between spelling and pronunciation
- use correct intonation in affirmative and interrogative sentences

All the materials are available in a digital learning environment
Teaching and evaluation methods
You will study independently with the help of texts, recordings, videos and interactive exercises on the course’s Moodle platform. You will also submit five pronunciation assignments to the teacher for assessment.
The evaluation is based on the interactive exercises and the pronunciation assignments submitted to the teacher.
While there are no scheduled meeting times, students can contact the teacher with any questions or concerns via email or the digital platform. Virtual office hours and online sessions can also be arranged upon request and when needed.
Grading scale and evaluation criteria
Pass/Fail
To receive a passing grade, all tasks on the learning platform must be successfully completed by the end of the course. In each interactive task, the minimum passing grade is 1, which corresponds to 65% of the maximum points. The pronunciation assignments submitted to the teacher are evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis.
