Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a estudiar español! Welcome to your online Spanish course, where you will learn independently through a variety of engaging exercises. By the end of the course, you will be able to introduce yourself, engage in small talk, talk about your stu-dies and work, ask for directions, and handle common situations in a restaurant and a café. You will also explore Spain and its culture, preparing you to use the language when traveling.
The course covers:
– Pronunciation, word stress, and intonation
– The alphabet and spelling your name
– Introducing yourself, talking about your studies and work
– Ordering food and drinks in a café, traveling, and transportation
– Basic hotel interactions
– Days of the week and expressing time
– Cultural insights and country names/nationalities
– Fundamental grammar: noun and adjective inflection, differences between “to be” verbs, prepositions, regular present tense conjugations, use of articles, and common irregular verbs
– Question words and common prepositions
– Numbers 1-100 and ordinal numbers 1-10

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, you will be able to:
– Use common expressions and polite phrases in basic everyday and work-related situations
– Know the fundamentals of Spanish grammar to carry on with Spanish 2.

Teaching and evaluation methods

The course consists of online instruction and exercises.

Grading criteria

Assessment is based on a final exam.

Amount of work

A total of 81h. One credit corresponds to 27 h of student work (3 x 27 h = 81 h).

Enrolment to the courses in the spring term starts on December 1st 2025 and ends on January 11th 2026.
