2022 Banking Research Workshop

Call for Papers

The 3rd University of Vaasa Banking Research Workshop will take place on August 25, 2022, in Vaasa, Finland. We cordially invite submissions of completed and early-stage papers addressing different aspects of banking, financial intermediation, and financial stability. The workshop, including the keynote presentation, is planned to be fully on-site with in-person presentations at the University of Vaasa.

The keynote speaker will be the distinguished Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of South Carolina

Allen N. Berger

Professor Berger has published over 120 articles in refereed research journals, including contributions to top finance journals, such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, and others. Professor Berger ranks fifth in the world on Research.com list of Top Economics and Finance Scientists with over 93,000 Google Scholar citations. He has given keynote addresses on five continents, and has been visiting scholar at several Federal Reserve Banks and central banks of other nations.

This one-day event with approximately 8-10 presentations aims to bring together active scholars to share and discuss topical research in areas including but not limited to:

  • Financial intermediation and regulation
  • Financial stability and economic growth
  • Corporate governance of financial institutions
  • Managerial compensation and incentives in financial institutions
  • Systemic risk
  • Risk management and measurement in banking organizations
  • Sustainability and social responsibility in the banking industry
  • Financial innovation and recent banking sector developments


Paper submission:

Authors interested in presenting their work at the workshop should submit their papers via this submission form.

The deadline for submissions is June 19, 2022. The authors will be notified about the status of their submission by June 30, 2022. Hotel accommodation in Vaasa for presenting authors will be provided by the organizers but workshop participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses. There is no workshop participation fee.
